How are you different from TradeMe?
It’d be a bit like comparing a horse and cart to a car.
We believe there isn’t a suitable alternatives to Facebook Marketplace and TradeMe for Kiwis who want to buy and sell second hand goods in a safe and simple manner.
There will be situations where TradeMe is more suitable to the user and that’s great.
As recommerce (second hand goods trading) continues to grow , we’re for Kiwis who want it be easy as possible.
Some of the ways we’re doing this including redefining the user experience and how listings are uploaded, low and fair fees and an environment that is protected from scams.
Previous attempts have failed, what makes SellWise different?
We’re doing it different. We agree another marketplace is destined to fail due to the network effect. However after months of research we believe we’d got a sustainable road map and strategy to eliminate that risk.

Who is SellWise for?
SellWise is for Kiwis who buy and sell secondhand goods but are frustrated with the risk of scams, high fees and outdated listing process.
What is SellWise's progress to date?
Since early 2023, we have conducted our behind the scenes research, validated the idea, designed user flow, wireframes and hi-fi prototypes.
We’re in the process of app development at the moment.
Is SellWise looking for investors or people to join the team?
Yes, however we’re looking for the ‘right-fit’ partners. If this is something you’re interested in, contact us today.
Why is the app not downloadable now?
We want to ensure our app meets the needs of users from the start which means user testing takes a long time.

What is the timeline for SellWise to launch?
Our goal is to have an MVP completed by the end of 2024.
This is dependent on achieving other milestones such as beta testing, funding and other resourcing dependables.

Answers for buyers
How does it work for buyers?
Through the SellWise app buyers will able to browse second hand goods in an intuitive, visual way making finding what you’re after seamless.
This includes filters such as verified sellers, location, tags, categories, condition and price.
As a buyer, you’ll have access to message sellers any questions and make purchases through the app.
Once a purchase has been made either using the in-app payment system which has buyer protection guaranteed or outside of the app, buyers will be able to organise pick up or delivery.
Following that buyers are then able to use the review system to rate how the trade went.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always add a listing in the “wanted goods” section and let sellers come to you.
What makes SellWise different for buyers?
We’re different because we remove the scam risk from transactions, provide a platform that is dedicated to second hand goods specifically and streamlines the process making it safe and simple.
Why should I use SellWise instead of alternatives?
SellWise will enable buyers to find deals more easily in a safe environment without taking unnecessary scam risks.
Did we mention you’ll also be able to upload a listing in the ‘goods wanted’ section, letting sellers come direct to you?
How were the app features determined?
During 2023, we worked with 100 other people who gave us feedback and their thoughts of what they’d like to see.
This was a mix of buyers and sellers of second hand goods to ensure both sides had been heard and the app is fit for purpose.
From there, we formed a focus group which enabled us to refine the features, test and reiterate until they were happy.

How does it work for sellers?
Through the SellWise app Sellers will be able to simply and quickly upload second hand goods across multiple platforms using AI and third party integrations.
This includes TradeMe, Facebook Marketplace and SellWise. By using AI, you will be able to enhance images, have suggested titles, descriptions, pricing and more – maximising your sell price while still proving value.
Through completing an ID check, we’ll also give sellers an opportunity to become SwapSafe verified which will protect both parties for any trades that are completed through SellWise.
Once a purchase has been made either using the in-app payment system, sellers will be able to organise pick up or delivery.
Following that sellers are then able to use the review system to rate how the trade went.
All listings can be managed within SellWise to ensure centralised simple listing management for multiple platforms.

SellWise will help sellers still manage all their second hand goods listings on existing platforms but also rewarding sellers for using SellWise directly.
In addition to this, sellers will also be reducing the time to upload listings and high fees associated to current platforms.
